Who am I?

My name is Caroline Pes

I am not a common theoretician. I always work on the artists’ side. I help them to explain and communicate the value of their art to the audience and give the necessary tools to feel confident in their artistic practice.

I also help to get a clear direction and an understanding of how to be recognizable and interesting to the viewer: how to strategize their artistic practice.

I did the math the other day and found out that I’d been giving lectures for 18 years so the number of artists who have studied with me is not in the dozens, but in the hundreds.

The “Artistic practice strategizing” course has become for me a starting point into the art world, a kind of bottomless well that I can approach at any time and quench my thirst for ideas. Initially it was hard to understand how and why I could use artistic strategies. But it's been more than a year after the course, during this time I went through several stages, created several projects, now they have a complete form and I do not feel panic devastation, because I understand that I will go to that well called "Artistic Strategies" and gather as many ideas as I can carry. Together with Carolina, we’ve made quite a journey on expressing and summarizing in words what I do in material as an artist. It was a truly great experience! The best thing strategizing can give is a clear vision and understanding of what you have already done, where you are right now and which direction to move further. It gives an impulse to find inspiration and motivation within your own artistic practice instead of looking for those things somewhere around. It encourages to feel confident at your own path and to be focused on developing your ideas instead of questioning them again and again.

This course is good for me because the information is presented in a well-concentrated format and at the same time in an accessible, non-fatiguing way. I do not have enough time to collect and process all these facts and data on my own and to turn it all right awayinto an effective formula for myself. I also like the way Caroline presents the material, a lot is immediately remembered and there is no need to pore over the notes or engage in cramming.
